Over the last 48 hours, 177 Democrats have endorsed the discharge petition, which CAIR and other pro-Palestinian human rights groups oppose. With Democrats occupying 213 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, there’s a chance dissatisfied Republicans may join forces with Democrats to reach the required 218 votes, enabling the initiation of a procedural discharge petition and bypassing Speaker Johnson’s block. Speaker Mike Johnson’s refusal to accept the Senate’s aid package instigated this action, which threatens to evade accountability and exacerbate the Gaza crisis. As of 12:00 PM Eastern Time, the listed Democratic House members have yet to endorse the Democratic discharge petition and have not publicly indicated their stance.
