PHOENIX, AZ – October 18, 2013
The CAIR-Arizona team is proud to announce that they will be presenting community leader and former chairman Imam Anas Hlayhel with the chapter’s “Community Service Award.”
This award is a recognition for an individual’s hard work and dedication to the Arizona community, and Imam Hlayhel’s efforts embody this spirit of service and leadership.
In addition to Anas’ full-time work as an engineer, he is also the imam of the Scottsdale Mosque – Islamic Center of the Northeast Valley. In this busy schedule, he has been able to travel the valley giving weekly sermons at Friday prayers, and holding talks during morning and evening times.
Imam Hlayhel also is an ambassador for the Muslim community in interfaith relations – participating in numerous programs throughout the Phoenix metro area, helping build understanding among faith communities. More recently, Imam Hlayhel was invited to give the opening prayer in front of the Arizona State Senate.
In all these combined efforts, in addition to handling his family duties – Anas was able to guide CAIR-AZ through difficult stages in its history, giving the organization stability and credibility.
“We want to thank Anas for his tireless effort in helping sustain CAIR-AZ and all that he does for the community,” said Imraan Siddiqi, CAIR-AZ Chairman.
“We are now seeing the fruits of the great work he did with this organization, and presenting him with this award is the least we could do to show our sincere gratitude.”
Please join CAIR-AZ in congratulating Imam Anas Hlayhel for his service to his community – as we will be presenting him with this honor at November 9th’s CAIR-AZ Banquet at the Hilton Phoenix-Mesa.
