CALL YOUR CONGRESSMEMBERS – DEMAND A CEASEFIRE NOW

CALL YOUR CONGRESSMEMBERS – DEMAND A CEASEFIRE NOW

The violence and aggressions towards Palestinian civilians by Israel have killed more than 5000 Palestinians, as homes, schools and hospitals are being bombed. This is the third week of Gaza being bombed and attacked, as innocent children, women and men mercilessly lose their lives.
We urge you all to use our script to call your members of Congress, each and every one of us has a responsibility to do what we can.

TEMPLATE FOR AZ SENATORS:

Hello,

I’m reaching out to express my strong concern about the ongoing Israeli military assault on Palestine. It is of utmost importance that you advocate for an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

With urgency, I request that the Senator refrains from supporting any legislation that provides additional military funding to Israel, as such actions are likely to worsen the already dire humanitarian situation.

The Israeli government’s bombing of Gaza, one of the most densely populated areas in the world, has resulted in a tragic toll. To date, over 6,000 bombs have been dropped, leading to the loss of more than 4,000 Palestinian lives, with a significant number being women and children. Additionally, over 12,000 Palestinians have been wounded, and one million have been displaced. Hospitals in Gaza are critically low on medical supplies, and the complete siege on the region, which my tax dollars support, is causing a severe loss of innocent lives and violating international law.

[Optional talking point/Additional Information: Hate crimes are escalating across the nation, exemplified by the tragic incident on Saturday, October 14th, where a six-year-old Palestinian-Muslim child was fatally stabbed by his landlord in Illinois, who expressed hateful sentiments. This horrifying anti-Muslim attack is directly linked to the situation in Palestine.]

I urge my member of Congress to call for an immediate ceasefire and to demand unhindered humanitarian assistance for the Gaza Strip.

Thank you for your time.

TEMPLATE FOR U.S. CONGRESS DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVE

Hello,

My name is [your name], I live in [city/state] and I am your constituent.

I’m asking my representative to cosponsor Representative Cori Bush’s Ceasefire Now Resolution.

I’m also asking for you NOT to cosponsor Representatives Andy Ogles and Tom Tiffany’s xenophobic “Guaranteeing Aggressors Zero Admissions Act,” aimed to prevent visas for holders of Palestinian passports.

I also ask you NOT cosponsor the McCaul/Meeks resolution, which further dehumanizes Palestinians. Passing a funding bill to support the the Israeli military will be funding a genocide.

[Optional talking point: Hate crimes nationally are increasing. For example, on Saturday, October 14th, a six year-old Palestinian-Muslim, was stabbed to death by his landlord in Illinois where he said “you Muslims must die.” This is a horrifying Islamophobic and anti-Muslim attack, directly linked to what’s happening in Palestine.]

Thank you for your time.

Dear [elected official],

I am reaching out as a resident of Arizona and an engaged citizen to make a respectful appeal to you, in your capacity as my elected representative, to call for an urgent ceasefire of Israel’s attack on Gaza.

Escalating the provision of ammunition and weaponry to the Israeli military is likely to exacerbate the cycle of violence. Their implementation of a comprehensive blockade on Gaza has led to significant loss of innocent civilian lives and is in violation of international law.

You must demand an immediate ceasefire.

Access to electricity and water has been severely curtailed by Israel, and as one resident aptly described it, “at times, the only source of light is from airstrikes.” Furthermore, the Israeli government has dropped a staggering 6,000 bombs within the initial week of its campaign in Gaza, a region known for its high population density.

Tragically, the casualty toll continues to rise, with nearly 4,000 civilians, including over 2,500 children, having lost their lives since October 7. Dina, a mother living in Gaza, provides a sobering perspective on the dire situation, stating, “Nowhere in Gaza is safe. People are frantically seeking shelter from the bombings in the streets. UNRWA schools and ambulances have also come under attack.”

I encourage you to verify these facts through reputable sources such as Reuters and PBS stories.

According to U.S. law, it is prohibited to provide security assistance to entities that have engaged in severe human rights violations. Furnishing weaponry and military backing to the Israeli government after their demonstrated misuse and implementation of “collective punishment” tactics implicates us as enablers of these transgressions.

This situation is also impacting American Muslims. On Saturday, October 14th, a tragic incident occurred where a six-year-old Palestinian-Muslim boy was fatally stabbed 26 times by his landlord in a hate-driven attack, directly connected to the events unfolding in Palestine.

I demand that my member of Congress demand a ceasefire, and demand that humanitarian assistance be allowed into the Gaza Strip.

Sincerely,
