Sakina Al-Amin

Sakina Al-Amin is a writer and educator with degrees in both Linguistics and Islamic Studies from the University of Michigan. 


In 2020 she won a Pillars Fund grant for her activism and writings on her social media platform Detroit Muslim Examiner. Her work has been featured in IFANCA, The Lone Star Crescent, Examiner, and The Conversation. For over ten years, she has worked as a Standardized Patient Instructor providing medical and dental students with the tools to be culturally sensitive and wholly outstanding healthcare professionals. She has also worked as a volunteer and coordinator for Growing Hope to improve food insecurity for low-income families.


Sakina has volunteered in the past with CAIR-MI and began her professional career with CAIR-AZ in 2020 as the Lead Organizer for the Get Out The Vote campaign.
