This great event effectively served as the re-launching of CAIR-Arizona to the Phoenix Muslim Community.  With our new board in place, the CAIR-AZ team put together an eventful weekend of community building, dialogue and brainstorming to help move our chapter and constituency forward.

On May 11th, we hosted the Tempe Mosque (ICC) Friday Night halaqah - with the following speakers:

Todd Gallinger - CAIR-National Director of Chapter Development and Attorney

Imam Anas Hlayhel - CAIR-AZ Chairman

Imraan Siddiqi - CAIR-AZ Board Secretary

We were able to hold a great discussion as to why it is important for our community to speak up in a time of rising Islamophobia, civil rights violations, in addition to other issues facing American Muslims.  Todd was able to outline a "Know Your Rights" seminar, while Anas and Imraan spoke of their vision and mission for the chapter moving forward.

On Saturday, May 12th - We held the seminar at Islamic Center of the East Valley (ICEV.)  Once again, we were able to discuss vital issues, while signing up volunteers and those interested in increasing their activism.

During the same weekend, we held a vital roundtable discussion and focus group with community leaders - where they told us what type of initiatives that they would like CAIR-AZ to tackle.  This great dialogue laid the framework for helping this chapter lay its course for the coming years.
