Ustadh AbdelRahman Murphy is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago, with a Bachelor’s in Teaching of English and Religious Studies. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Mental Health Counseling. He has served as a youth director, Muslim chaplain, and assistant imam in a full-time capacity since 2009.
His Islamic studies background includes completing an Imam Certificate Program in Makkah, Saudi Arabia under the mentorship and training of Shaykh Khalid Hilwany. While growing up in the Chicagoland area, he spent two years studying at Riyadh As Saliheen Institute under Shaykhs Ehab Ash-Shaer and Abu Abdullah. While finishing his university studies, he benefitted directly from the training and teaching of Professor Omer Mozaffar in areas of Quran and texts of Imam Ghazali. After graduating with his BA, Ustadh AbdelRahman moved to Dallas, where he began reading classical texts with Shaykh AbdulNasir Jangda. In May of 2014, he formally graduated from the Qalam Seminary’s one-year program.
Currently, he is continuing his study of the Quran and Imam Ghazali’s text with Professor Omer Mozaffar, and is working to complete his coursework of the Dars-e-Nizami curriculum directly with Shaykh AbdulNasir Jangda.
Congressman Andre Carson is now serving in his 4th term in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing the 7th District of Indiana. He is one of 2 Muslims currently serving in Congress.
Congressman Carson is also a rising member of House leadership. During the 114th Congress, Carson serves as a Senior Whip for the House Democratic Caucus, sits on the powerful Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, and is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus’ Executive Leadership Team. These high profile positions have allowed him to fight for Indiana’s 7th Congressional District at the highest levels of congressional leadership.
Before taking office, Congressman Carson served on the Indianapolis City-County Council and worked full-time in law enforcement.
Congressman Carson is married to local educator Mariama Carson. They are the proud parents of an eight-year-old old daughter, Salimah, and live in Center Township.
Aman Ali is an award winning storyteller in New York City and one of the most popular social media personalities in the Muslim community today. His passionate and animated tales he regularly posts to Facebook continue to go viral by the thousands daily.
He is also one of the only young American Muslims in the public spotlight today. He's made appearances on dozens of media outlets such as the New York Times, CNN, HBO, BBC, and NPR to talk about the shenanigans of being born and raised in central Ohio.
He is recognized for being the co-creator of the social media phenomenon, a 25,000 mile road trip he took to all 50 states in the U.S. with the mission of telling groundbreaking and profound stories about Muslims in America.
